The yearly Strat Plan exercise in most organizations is a mechanical exercise that is not really strategic planning – it is merely financial projections of today’s plan into the future. A good strategic plan should also include new future growth possibilities brought back to today for consideration. In most organizations, information about future growth opportunities does not exist because there is no one who is responsible for the future.

4. Future immersion activity with thought leaders.
5. Customer immersion activity.
6. Opportunity ideation session.
7. Opportunity refinement, evaluation, and prioritization.

Deliverables:

1. Portfolio of future new business concepts across timeframes (short, medium, long) and levels of innovation (low, medium, high) that leverage the trends of the emerging future of that business.
2. Report of senior management alignment interviews.
